Characteristics of Good Storytelling

Based on observations from Neil Gaiman’s story “The Price”

– simple words
– examples to concretize things as needed (e.g. descriptions of the cats)
– set premise and stage for the main actor (the black cat)
– build suspense (scars and wounds)
– reveal and climax (Satan’s arrival)
– leave questions for the ending (“I wondered, selfish and scared, how much more he can give”)
